So I chose to interview him to get a different ministry setting than my other interviewees. He helped his family run the camp in multiple ways such as: being a leader for the kids and leading workers who worked in the kitchen making food for everyone on the camp grounds Nick defined leadership as “the way of influencing others positively or negatively that achieves a task or goal.”
One aspect of this definition that I liked was how as a leader we can also negatively affect the people that we lead. This idea was important to me because it will remind me to take a step back and assess how the group is accomplishing our goals. Nick went on to explain that if a group not accomplishing these goals than the leader will have to see what they rest of the group believes is going wrong. And if they are accomplishing what we need to the leader should still be looking for some ways to help the group. I also learned that a leader is looking for areas where there improvement is needed. I learned from Nick, that leaders do not need to wait for problems to be brought to their attention they seek
