The internship provides a real world experience for those who look to achieve the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a specific career field. An internship consists of an exchange of services for experience between the student and an organization. Students can also utilize internship to figure out whether they have an enthusiasm for a particular profession, to make a system of contacts, or to pick up school credit. Every year our department arrange internship program for its student. The internship is required for the completion of the degree. I had done my internship work in Medical Social Services at Mayo Hospital.

Mayo Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in South Asia, over 54.6 acres of land and the main building with boundary having 11 gates, it is a center of excellence for public benefit. The father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah also paid tribute to services delivered by this hospital on his visit to Mayo Hospital dated 19.03.1940.
Mayo Hospital is located in the heart of Lahore City and is surrounded by busy commercial and generously populated residential areas with famous Anarkali Bazaar, Nila Gumbad, Gawalmandi and the Walled City of Old Lahore around it.

I asked them different questions starting from their names, residence, marital status, siblings, fathers'/husbands' profession and children details. Then asked about their diseases, how long they had been suffering and if it was their first visit to Medical Social Services Department.
Through case history, I came to know the various aspects of the patient’s life, their socio-economic status and disease. Most of the patients were suffering from HCV + (Hepatitis C virus), and they were getting their treatment free from Medical Social Services Department through zakat funds, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Fund and District Bait-ul-Mal fund.
Sixth week: 7th – 12th September
The patient was poor, and the doctor prescribed the tests of her. That was needed to be done from CENUM (Center for Nuclear Medicine) but the tests cost was high-priced for her, so she was referred to Medical Social Services Department for help. I took the history of her, wrote an application in which I stated that the patient is poor and could not afford the charges of the tests so kindly allowed her to pay half payment of the tests. I went to the CENUM Department and approved the application, then came back and again got it approved by Medical Social Services
