The water supply, personal and community hygiene, and sanitation factors are vital components that determine the overall health status of individual countries. These three elements have the ability to affect the worldwide disease burden by 9.1% and universal morbidity rates by 6.3%. According to the World Health Organization and UNICEF, Nigeria is an underdeveloped country that has one of the highest population and poverty levels in Africa. The poor hygiene, inadequate and/or contaminated water supply, and unhealthy sanitation places Nigeria at risk for various diseases and health issues. This paper will discuss the socioeconomic health and financial factors of Nigeria, the policies and resources that are being implemented, and the progress that has been reported.

These ratios (1.95 per 1000) are too low to meet the safety and health needs of Nigerians. A deficit of public and private region organization and environmental concerns of healthcare employee are to blame for the decreased healthcare population. The Human Resources for Health (HRH) has been established in Nigeria to warrant equal health care to all communities. This program allows the use of telemedicine to assist with the diagnosis, treatment, and other healthcare needs of individuals and communities. HRH also assists with acquiring financial aid with other countries where Nigerian health care personnel reside.
The Midwifery Service Scheme was established in Nigeria in 2011. This organization consists of retired and recently graduated midwives that are capable of delivering safe health care to communities. These workers are distributed throughout the needed areas for one year of community services.
