Why Is It Important To Have Rules In The Classroom

When it comes to having rules in the classroom it is important as a teacher to post the rules and make them simple for the students. The teacher may have to remind the students about the rules because the students maybe still learning the rules. Having rules in the classroom helps keep the students and the room under control; at the same time the teacher shouldn’t over use the strategies, reinforcement, logic consequences, time-out, and punishments.
Anytime in my classroom if I witness a student following directions while other students aren’t following directions. When the teacher is talking the students should be listening to what they have to say so the students knows what is about to happen or what to expect. If the student doesn’t listen then they won’t know what do or what is about to happen, and they will be missing out or confused. The second rule would apply to this too if the students are talking over the teacher or other classmates they aren’t paying attention or maybe causing distraction for other students, and they won’t be able to hear what is being said. For the students safety it is important for them to walk in the classroom. While students may be still working on using their words to express their feeling it is important for them to keep their hands to themselves if they try using their words but that isn’t working then they should get help from the teacher.
