Background Health care associations are facing many challenges in hygiene and safety of the patients and the staff working in the hospital. Hand hygiene is now considered as the major issue in the health care sector, because it increases the risk of infections, severity of illness and complexity of treatment. The first evidence was provided by Labarraque that hand decontamination can markedly reduce the incidence of puerperal fever and maternal mortality (Labarraque, 1829). According to World Health Organization in 2006, “advanced draft guidelines on "Hand Hygiene in Health Care" were published and a suite of implementation tools were developed and tested. The first Global Handwashing Day was observed on October 15, 2008”. Recently, 2017 winter was a worst flu season in the community where many people suffered from infections causing flu due lack of hygiene. A forced action should be taken by the government and the public health organization to provide excellence care to patients. According to Canadian Patient Safety Institute, “220,000 people are afflicted with healthcare-associated infections in Canada every year and 8,000 to 12,000 of those individuals will die as a result of acquiring a healthcare-associated infection”.
