Argue: Is the use of gender-neutral language important? Why or why not
The use of gender-neutral language is important because it provides the platform for women rights to be represented, it enables parents to direct children questions in gender identity, and it enable society to clearly communicate to all. As society filters and adjusts to the signs of the times, it struggles to find a balance without taking a stand. It is not by accident, but by divine appointment that society strives to define the very things it cannot explain. Acceptance is not reached by denying one’s gender, rather it is by embracing the uniqueness and perfection of creation.

Using language neutrality does not remove ones need to understand that accommodations need not be defined as eliminations. Language neutrality has its purpose, when used in context, can be very empowering. Without any bias, statistic can be an instrumental tool in bringing awareness. According the New Zealand Press “Gender neutrality should be praised” (The Press), results shows “1.2 percent of New Zealand school students are transgender. The Adolescent Health Survey found that more than half are afraid of being hurt or bullied” (The Press), without a clear picture, a partial evidence is being given to steer the readers to affirm a desired correlation. These collected data lack representation of the full student body, it omits to address this question, are the remaining student population exempt from being bullied? According to Rosenthal “Hidden Gender, compared with such questions of surface gender, rolls beneath the language like the tide” (Rosenthal), gender exist, trying to eradicate or deny it will only leave our society confused and void of the nuances of language. Language consist of more than just a form of communication, it is influenced by culture, experiences, and society. Rosenthal states in his article “Purging language of sexist terms is worth doing for its own sake” (Rosenthal), this process of thinking has lead to an enhance ability to communicate without offending a group.
