Food safety consists of proper handling, preparation and storage of food items not to mention a couple other factors which are personal hygiene and the proper and care for uniforms, ie, aprons, headgear etc. When these concepts are not followed the time starts ticking for illnesses and outbreaks to begin. The National Restaurant Association has developed a program called SERV Safe which is a sanitation and certification program geared around four categories, manager, handler, alcohol and allergen (NRA, n.d.). Unfortunately, if there are excessive inspections with violations the chance of a restaurant being closed down until violations are corrected is a big possibility. The way Public Health impacts food safety and sanitation is by being up to date with its information and ensuring it is available to all food establishments. A bad outcome for not following the rules and regulations designated by the FDA can be horrendous. Food borne illness can take the lives of many when we are neglectful, this is why these agencies enforce the
