INTRODUCTION
Family medicine has been recognised as a specialty for decades in many countries. Like recognised specialties, family medicine has a defined body of knowledge, skills and attitudes, a research base and a post graduate training program. Despite its central and generalised importance to our discipline it is a “speciality”, unlike other specialties which deals only with a specific system or organ. It is a way of healthy and joyful life for individuals as well as for that family physician who has picked up the burden of making the community and individual healthy and preventing diseases among them.

But before 1969 there always existed a conflict that whether it is a specialty or a generalist discipline, Thus family medicine had struggled a lot for its identity as a specialty.
A family medicine faculty one said that “We’re not just a bunch of little paediatricians, little internists or little psychiatrists. We are real doctors with our own way of seeing things and doing thing”. “We have got a speciality of our own right”.
Family medicine like the already recognised specialties has a defined body of knowledge, skills and attitude, a growing research base; a post graduate training program and a certification process. As well family physicians play a highly valued role in the provision of medical care in the whole world.

Fourth year is a special time for all medical students. It means we are but mere months from achieving those oh-so-special added letters at the beginning for our names. It means no longer introduction yourself as a student doctor, but rather as an actual doctor.It also means choosing and applying to the medical specialty you so desire.
As a medical student, I like family medicine as one of the choice for my post graduation because of the joy of practice that is present within it.
The welcoming attention that a family physician offers may be the single most important thing the patients receive that day. In return, the physician is greeted with a reciprocal sense of love, a respect, a trust and an imitation to join with the patients as they make their ways in life, with gratitude when things go well, as well as when they do not.
Family physicians are on a common journey through illness, pain, through difficulty and infirmity as well as
