There are several countries which have strived and achieved democracy because it is an impartial, transparent and effective form of government. Bhutan itself under the wise leadership of his majesty the 4thDrukGyalpo embraced democracy in 2008. Education can create knowledgeable citizens for voting and competent leader to be voted for. It can eradicate any form of corruption. It can promote individual differences but at the same time preserve common values. Education is a normative enterprise, in that it is driven by fundamental social values as well as the imperative of social justice. These values and imperatives power fully shape every dimension of educational theory, policy and practice. Self determination requires that there shall be care full reflection upon and rational deliberation concerning social values and in turn, the imprecation of justice that inform the purpose and practice of education. Individuals who have learned how to be free, they will have to concern themselves with the development of self-discipline and self-reliance, of ethical principles as a guide for conduct, of sensitivity to injustice and inequality, of insight into human motives and aspirations, of discriminating appreciation of a wide range of human values, of the spirit of democratic compromise and cooperation. Education boosts communication and information of the currency of democracy and most importantly education prepares the future generation for democracy.
