I totally agree with his point that technology is reducing student’s ability to think, comprehend and retain information. It is hindering the ability of students to analyze topic, deliberate and critically think. Partica Greenfield, UCLA distinguishes professor of Psychology and director of the children’s digital media center, Los Angeles, analyzed more than 50 studies on learning technology and found trends that both are disturbing and heartening. As a result, it is essential to understand how to use it in an effective and advantageous way which will enhance both our smartness and intelligence. We should use modern technology as a resource and tool for information necessary to formulate an answer or explanation and to support our idea with data and statistics. We should understand the necessity to maintain our critical thinking and originality as a society and do not want to be a human vacuum that sweep up all information from the technologies we have without thinking. Instead, if we are so smart in using it, we should increase our drive to be inquisitive and think as it can serve as a path to open up research possibilities and truly contribute to our society’s goal of productivity and efficiency.
