Mongolian Conquest
Mongol expansion in the thirteenth century was due to the rule of the Great Genghis Khan who was the chief of the Mongolian empire from 1206-1227.Unification of many tribes along with various battle tactics helped the Khan conquer many lands before his untimely death. Khan learned that terror was a vital weapon in war, which he used much of the time where either you would fight and all the people massacred or you give up and live under Mongol rule. Important Mongol conquered cultures that affected world history were the Russians, Islam, and China.

A notable thing that the Mongols did in Russia was use census tabulation for the purpose of collecting taxes/conscription which large census surveys like this were unheard of in this time period. Census tabulation was a system adopted from the Chinese was used in all of the Mongolian empire as well as helping to create Russia a strong centralized government. Another important entity given to the Russians was that of the system of Yam, which in contrast was like the American West’s pony express, which enabled the Mongol lords to keep in touch with each other while being able to communicate in 3 days or more. Hongwu replaced all Mongol practices involving society aspects such as marriage or social hierarchy which improving the society even further with new schools as well as utilize China’s history to make his country better than before. A change that Hongwu also imposed was that he split up several government agencies into multiple agencies from then on increasing the effiency of the Ming dynasty. The Ming dynasty was able to push out the Mongolians while keeping them at bay for many years to come and prompted more construction in defensive walls also repairing the Great Wall of China. Lastly, the Ming would inspire Chinese revolutionaries to overthrow the Manchu Qing and establish the first Republic of
