The article I read was about a women named Nithya Nathan-Pineau, and she is an immigration lawyer that defends mostly children along with other immigrants facing deportation in the US. Most recently due to President Donald Trump’s immigration policy. She works with a program called CAIR and also with the Office of Refugee Resettlement to help minors that have been recently apprehended. The Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a civil rights and advocacy group that protects the rights of humanity while presenting a positive image of Muslim and Islamic people in American. (Cair.com) She tries to assist them in the process and represent them in court to help the judge see the “whole person” and the situation as it is, but she does not win every case. It was interesting to read that these children were being deported and dropped off into a country they had never been to and were essentially being forced to adapt.
