The play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, is about a conspiracy that is made to kill Caesar, because the conspirators are hungry for power of their own. While they are fawning over Caesar, the conspirators stab him multiple times, which leads to a civil war between the friends of Caesar and the heads of the conspiracy; the leaders of the conspiracy army commit suicide, therefore Caesar's friends are victorious in the war. Titinius says that “in his red blood Cassius’ day is set”, revealing that the blood inside Cassius’ body is draining into the dirt, leaving nothing behind, like how the setting sun leaves nothing behind in its trail. Titinius uses the image of his master’s blood because blood represents the passing the life, because the corporal body needs blood if to survive, and a body without blood is nothing. This grief that Titinius is portraying would eventually led to his rash decision of commiting suicide,since he thinks “mistrust of my success” begins this all. This image also unmasks Titinius’ loyalty to his master, since he blames Cassius’ death all on himself, which a loyal servant would do.
