Kim great post and insight, I also realized that I need to work on my own diversity and beliefs. I found myself in some of the family sessions have my own views formed by stereotypes. Furthermore I thought I had a great deal of exposure to diverse people and ideas however I still can’t deny that my ideas can be limited based on my interactions and experiences(Illovsky, 2013). Furthermore Illovsky (2013) suggested counselors can gain experience in diversity by dealing with those who are define themselves or defined as different. I know I still have to work on my own beliefs can cultural conditioning so I can be in place to recognize my own biases that come in the counseling session.
