One thing that is affected is the amount of wages. Employers choose undocumented workers because they can give them lower pay compared to the Americans and with this they can save a lot of money. So what happens is that the American will not have a choice but to either accept a low salary or don’t work at all (Davidson, 2013). For example, there is a vacant job at a certain restaurant as a janitor and both the illegal immigrant and a citizen are applying for the job. The employer sees that both of them are qualified and since one of them is an undocumented worker he or she can offer a lower pay for the job. This is a disadvantage for the citizen and the only choice would be to accept it or he or she will end up with no work and as for the undocumented worker, he will accept it as long as he gets paid no matter how much is the amount of the salary. According to a research done by the Center for American Progress, (Fairus.org, 2011, 5), “by reducing the population of illegal aliens in the United States by one-third, it will raise the income of unskilled workers by $400 per year.” This just shows that illegal immigration really does lower the wages given to all workers in the country most especially to those who are at high school level, therefore adding up to the people living in …show more content…
A Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that 70 percent of the Americans including 86 percent of Republicans say that illegal immigrants threaten the United State’s traditional beliefs and customs (Miller, 2014). How can something like this affect one’s belief and custom? According to escapefromamerica.com (2009, 6), “an employer who gives a job to an illegal immigrant in order to save money by paying a low salary, no benefits of health care, and not reporting them to the authorities make one a law breaker too.” It also endangers the safety of the society. One example of this was when an illegal immigrant was arrested in San Francisco for a minor crime. He was then releases by bail and committed a triple murder on the same day (www.escapefromamerica.com, 2009). Ronald Mortensen (2009) further says that by failing to control illegal immigration, a culture of corruption is being introduced. Because there are a lot of illegal aliens who came from a country where corruption is
