Jean-Jacque Rousseau's Analysis

Throughout Jean-Jacque Rousseau’s Emile, Rousseau explains in detail, his version of an ideal education. Rousseau’s educational methods of urging children to independently think through examples such as religion and science would be highly beneficial but his practice of withholding children from society would deem the child a stranger in modern society. In this paper, I will provide a brief overview of Rousseau’s methods above advocating children to think for themselves through science and religion, and restricting children from society. Followed by making a comparison to my own childhood and modern education and explain the advantages one would receive from being educated through urging children to formulate their own thoughts, but by adding …show more content…
That is his method of advocating his imaginary pupil Emile to think independently. From the moment I could intelligently formulate and communicate a thought my parents strongly promoted me to think for myself, especially when I began attending school. Whether that be through avoiding peer pressure by not trusting a thought or action based on what others did or even through my school work by being able to interpret the problems teachers gave me independently without dishonest reliance of my peers. Throughout my life these lessons remain relevant today, urging your child to formulate their own thoughts from an early age is highly beneficial because it prepares them for an honest and successful academic career as well as preventing them from taking part in careless decisions.
