What is the difference between ice and water? Ice water is 34 degrees Fahrenheit, and yet it is still a liquid. This is because the water is warming, not cooling. The water in the artic is doing the same thing because of climate change. Climate change is what happens when the thermal energy from the sun enters the Earth 's atmosphere faster than it can leave, or vice versa. People has caused the Earth 's climate to rise, but with some effort, we can slow, stop, and even reverse these changes by living cleaner and greener.
Climate change is caused by humans. One of the climate changing factors introduced by humans is greenhouse gases. Scientists at NASA have proven that greenhouse gases changed the temperature …show more content…
They think that the temperature rise might be caused by an increase in the solar energy entering Earth 's atmosphere. Though this is a seemingly plausible cause, NASA has disproved the theory by recording the upper levels of the atmosphere which would become hotter only if the sun became more active ("A Blanket Around Earth"). The temperatures have had spikes every ten years where we have not seen spikes in the global temperature (graph 1 and graph 2). People think that because the Ice Age was possible, then the opposite must be true and the Earth is naturally heating up, but this is not true. The Earth 's climate records have been preserved in tree rings, ice cores, and even coral, and all of those sources show how the temperature of Earth has remained steady up until recently ("The Current And Future"). This shows that even though the Earth 's climate has only risen one degree in recent history, that rise is a dramatic change compared the Earth 's usual temperature. These changes in temperature can have catastrophic …show more content…
One way is to reduce the amount of fossil fuels that you use. This could be done by buying a car that runs on electricity, hydrogen, or a hybrid of electricity and gas, or by taking the bus. These methods work, but they aren 't the most effective. electric and hybrid cars need the electricity from somewhere, and it is produced by mostly burning fossil fuels to turn a turbine which makes the electricity, so it still isn 't clean. Hydrogen cells are costly, complicated, and most of our hydrogen comes from fossil fuels anyway. Have you ever seen a hydrogen pump for cars? Me neither. The best way to reduce your carbon footprint is to walk or ride a bike where you need to go. Cars will suffice if there is snow or it is exceedingly hot outside, but most of the time, people can use these methods of transportation, and they improve people 's health. Another way to help out the environment is to use more renewable energy. One form of renewable energy is wind. windmills are already in use in many areas between towns and cities, and could be used in even more places. They could be put in fields that aren 't used as crop land, or put between the road and the crop land where there are many miles between cities. Another form of renewable energy is water. Though dams are not as easy as windmills, they can be put right up next to cities and power a large percent of the city. Dams also pose the
