Recently, a new technology that has been developed is the ISTAT handheld blood analyzer. The ISTAT blood analyzer is a handheld machine that can perform and analyze test, including hemoglobin, hemacrait, cardiac troponin, coagulation, electrolytes and common metabolites. The ISTAT analyzer allows healthcare workers to have access to labatroy results in a matter of minutes instead of hours. The ISTAT uses a single use handheld cartilage that allows two to three drops of blood to be put on the cartilage and have the results in about 2 minutes. This new an advance technology allows healthcare professional to receive the results in minutes, reduce the indecent of errors and increase patient safety.
