I Love You Now Change Character Analysis

In the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect. Now Change directed by Jerry Lee, the musical explores the concept of love. The thing that is being explored is how love is being used in multiple situations from positive to negative. The musical does teach lessons and include common problem when it comes to love. The problems that was being covered are things like expectations, miscommunications, bonding with parents, and life. Overall, the musical itself is enjoyable. I like the synopsis is easy to understand and fun. The paper response will respond to the concept of the musical itself. The concept of the musical is multiple mini scenes in one act as well as actors or actresses playing multiple characters in one show. Another thing that the paper will cover is the transitions in the show which involves the change in settings and wardrobe. I would recommend this show to anyone to watch. This response paper will be focusing on the concept and the transition of the musical I Love You, You’re Perfect. Now Change which states the reason to see this musical. The concept of the musical is a play that involve music and the play are split into 19 unrelated scenes within two acts. The concept itself is interesting and not a typical play in my opinion. This is a type of play that doesn’t have a specific story line. In my opinion, I enjoy this type of play. The reason why I like this style because the play itself has multiple mini plays but relates to the same theme or subject. In Act one, the theme is about love while in in a dating to marriage type matter. In Act two, the theme involves love in the setting of having a family. These two acts either have the same subject or follow a common theme. Another thing that is interesting is that there are multiple characters but all of those characters being played are not listed in the program. For example, the actors and actress doesn’t play a specific character. Jake Mahler who plays Man one and Melinda Parrett who plays Women one; this is an example that they play a gender which put the purpose to play multiple characters. I like this type of set up because it widens the range of the actor or actress’s acting ability. Another reason why I like this concept is because the musical can have variety of personalities that can be expressed. This means that the musical itself covers every personality when it comes to love. Now Change musical, the setting is a small stage. I find it fascinating that the transition of both the wardrobe and the props of the show is efficient. The transactions of the wardrobe are efficient because of the type of costume they use. The type of costume that this musical use is common clothing that an average Joe or Jill wears day by day. Clothing like t-shit or jeans to name a couple. The only type of clothing that is unique and it’s not worn on a day to day bases are attires that are worn in weddings such as wedding dress and special suits for the men. This contributes to the transitions because there are types of clothing that can be changed quickly for scene change. In the musical, the wardrobe changes within the show was fast and efficient. I like that transition because the efficiency is good and the show runs better with this efficiency. Another transition that I found good is the transition for the props for a particular scene. The transition for the props is so fast and clean to the point that the scene can be changed and ready for the actors to proceed to the next scene. I like those transitions because it keeps the musical running and it won’t have problems to the point the show has to stop the show. The larger props are sofa like chairs and table that has rolling wheels. The wheels allow faster placements to change the setting for the show. Both the transition of costume and the props are efficient and makes the musical
