I love hockey and I also love playing it. Before I came to Canada, I didn’t know hockey existed in Canada. When I started school in Canada, I was in grade four (4), I played hockey for the first time and I loved it right away. Did I forget to mention, I was good at it too even though I never played it before that. I learned about hockey in school and every times I had gym class, I couldn’t wait to go and play. In grade five (5), I was in a floor hockey team. I do not play ice hockey due to the fact I’m still learning how to skate. I love playing hockey more than anything. When I graduated from elementary school, I was looking forward to joining hockey team in middle school. When I finally started middle school, I asked the gym teacher, Mr. Brown if they have a hockey team. He said, “No there is no hockey team. Sorry!” In grade eight (8), there was boy’s hockey team. We asked the principle if there is going to girl’s hockey team but she said she can’t afford to pay for girl’s hockey team. I was sad and so were the other girls who wanted a girl’s hockey team. Every day I would play Tag or Man Haunt with my friends and if my mom wouldn’t let me go out, I would beg her to let me go outside to play with my friends. During Ramadan, after dinner, everyone would pray than adults and youngsters would come out and we would play Tag or Man Haunt at night. I loved running since childhood. When I came to Canada and I heard about cross-country, I wanted to run. I’m a fast runner and once my grade five (5) gym teacher asked me, “How come you are such a fast runner?
