I, Lopez de Garcia, like many in my situation, joined Coronado’s noble army. Only I joined with a reached out arm, and open hand, as someone who had offered Coronado the same opportunity years ago. I knew why he had favor towards me, why he granted me this same opportunity that would lead him to be the commander he is today. After all, we are both victim of circumstance. Like Coronado, I am the second son of a Spanish nobleman, who was left without any fortune of my own due to entitlement granted under the law of primogeniture. He empathized with me. So of course, of all his high ranking officers he choose me personally to carry forth a task for him. At this point I wasn't sure if it was out empathy or respect. Of course I hesitated to answer but considering his already elated view of me I could do nothing but humbly accept, “humbly”. He said “Great” went back to his work and before I knew it I was out the tent. I walked in stupor towards the camp in which my men stayed in. Its not that I didnt know what to do, as an officer I have a certain degree navigation
