One of the goals I have selected for myself in this class was not to procrastinate. I found two articles I used for resources. The first article was I’ll Do It Tomorrow: The Logic Procrastination by Lisa M Zarick and Robert Stonebraker. The second was Good and Bad Procrastination by Paul Graham. Both articles talked about different aspects of procrastination, but had the some of the same ways to prevent or help with procrastination. I found both article interesting in ways they researched on why people procrastinate. In the article, I’ll Do It Tomorrow, Zarick and Stonebraker explain many fascinating facts about procrastination. One of the most interesting facts that I learned was that seventy-three percent of college students are unlikely procrastinate in a course they like rather than a course they dislike. Fifty-six percent are unlikely to do so in a course for their major. I learned that procrastination is due to “a fear or failure” (Zarick & Stonebraker p. 212), also, students will wait to start on an assignment due at the end of the week rather than starting when the assignment is assigned. One suggested solution was to divide a project in “smaller task” (p. 214) to feel less …show more content…
I learned that there are three types of procrastination: doing nothing, do “something less important” (Graham p.1), or do “something more important” (Graham p.1). The good procrastination is “avoiding errand to do real work” (Graham p.1). One of the most interesting things I read was there is a risky form of procrastination, it is unrecognized because it doesn’t seem like procrastination, which is when you are “getting things done. Just the wrong things” (Graham p. 2). What Graham suggests how to avoid procrastination is deceiving yourself into doing your work. Also, make it a joy for you to do instead of making it something you feel like is being

Although I’ll admit I’ve procrastinated at times, for the next two years I look forward to avoid doing so because I know, from past experience, how terrible a habit it is. Because middle school curriculum was significantly easier, procrastination was not a significant problem, but in high school it definitely became one. It was then I realized if I…

The author's main message of this article is to explain to the non-procrastinators of the world what goes on in the heads of procrastinator's and why we are this way. The author had a hypothesis which was that the brains of procrastinators are different from the people who are not. To test this he went to an MRI lab with a non-procrastinator and both people got scanned which proved his hypothesis. He explained in both brains there was a rational Decision-Maker, the section in your brain that makes all the main decisions such as doing a writing assignment like this one. By doing this, it really makes my homework take much longer than it needs to. This week is the week before Spring Break and this calls for many tests, assignments, and overall just more stress!…

People set goals because they have a deep desire to better our lives in some way.…
