My School district I’ve been in since halfway through kindergarten has one high school, two junior highs, a couple of middle schools and a variety of elementary schools; the fire trucks for the town have the high school mascot on the side. Small town education is different in the way that honor classes have a set of students that take them, and there is rarely a variation from this set of students in those classes. I saw that many students who did not start honors classes in junior high do not think that they can take these advanced classes, they have become viewed as “elite”. I believe there is a more evident ambiance of respect in the Honors Program because, like the students, the professors are highly motivated. Additionally, the Honors students want to be in a more academically challenging environment and the professors want to teach these students who are hungry for knowledge.
