“ Ta-he….NO, no, no..t, ha, eh. Lilly I can’t do it.” I looked at her with a big smile, knowing she's starting to understand, and replied “but you ARE doing it! There is no such thing as can't. You are sounding it out and you are doing a marvelous job!” She looked at me like i was crazy and didn't know what i was talking about. I could feel that she was starting to comprehend what she was seeing. When you think about everything you have to do to learn to read you may even think it's easy since you already know how to read. For my aunt it's like reading spanish and then trying to understand and make sense of what you read. Reading and comprehension is totally different for everyone.
“Lilly i don't understand this at all, reading is too hard for me to know..” I looked at her astonished. Quitting.
