Hysan Informative Speech

“Bring the prisoners here!” I felt myself being dragged from the dark. I was so weak, I couldn't even brace my eyes against the bright, piercing lights. “Hassan Havilliard,” boomed a voice I knew too well. “Charged of illegally learning and playing music.” I was now at the center of the execution arena. The guards dropped me heavily and painfully onto the cold, stone ground. A cry escaped from me. At this point, I was tired. I was tired of fighting. Everyone should have music. Music is a universal language. It is a way to communicate and express oneself, but here, this is unacceptable. Here, music is a weapon. Here, you can not be free. You're tied by down by laws and crippled by the government. There's no longer …show more content…
My brother’s cold silver eyes bore through me. It was like a knife gutting right through me. “Hello, Hassan,” he replied. “Hello, Eden.” Eden looked up at Hysan. “Hello, Elector.” said Eden. I can hear the venom in the word elector. Hysan ignored it and continued. “Citizens! These prisoners are traitors and criminals. As punishment, they will be sentenced to death!” The crowd roared in approval- hungry and bloodthirsty. Immediately, Eden was dragged towards the cutting block. I screamed and screamed, but my voice was lost in the clashing of sounds from the crowd. Eden was forced on his knees. I looked into his eyes. His eyes glittered. He was absolutely calm. He started humming to the tune of a Beethoven song. His voice was barely audible over the chaos, but I can hear the legato melody. The axe was over his head now and time itself seemed like it was slowing down gradually- ritardando. Eden’s eyes were still open when the axe fell. I counted. 1,2,3. Eden was dead. Today, however, Eden looked distressed. “What's wrong?” I asked. Eden looked down. “Remember when I told you that music is a language?” I nodded. “I work for the rebelling states. I’m using music to transfer information to them from the Academy.” “Did you get caught?” I asked. “We both did.” he answered. “A fellow student heard the piano.” Now I was left with one thought. How will my brother, the elector act when he finds out I betrayed him?

“Bring the next prisoner!” It was my turn now. The crowd roared louder than before. I channeled myself to be just like Eden. Calm. I hummed the same Beethoven tune- my humming legato. I dropped to my knees at the cutting block. Here, I found myself unafraid. If death brings me freedom then set me free. If death brings me peace then let it be. The axe hovered above me now and all I could do was listen to the sound of my drumming heart, it's rhythm steady. It went well with the tune I hummed. I looked at my black and silver brother once more. The axe fell. I can hear it's metal ring slice through the air. I closed my eyes and awaited my long lost friend, death. The metal ring was the last thing I ever heard. Al

Artistic signing is the use of American Sign Language (A.S.L.) to interpret the Arts, such as music, theater, visual arts and so on for all mediums. In the case of music, if deaf people are in the audience, then the interpreter can help them by signing the lyrics. That way they can provide a better experience for them. Ms. Parker, a Texas native, and members of her Austin-based company, LotuSIGN, had interpreted more than 20 bands’ sets for deaf and hard of hearing festival attendees that weekend. As evidenced by the positive reception she received, her interpretations had won over a good part of the hearing audience as well.…

In Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World”, citizens live without individuality, intelligence, and emotions, all of which can be connected to the absence of playable music. In the real world, everyone is affected by music that they listen to or create themselves, but it is truly underestimated. People have the distinguished ability to express their individuality through the varying types of music in the world and how they react to it. Being a musician can challenge someone’s mental and physical abilities and, if they accept the challenge, can make them more intelligent and capable members of society. Music can also cater to one’s differing emotions and help them to understand their feelings and coping methods.…

Victor Hugo once said, “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and which cannot remain silent.” Music is the freedom of expression used by those incapable, or forbidden to convey their beliefs. Although it may seem obvious to many Americans today, that each person could present their opinions without fear, it was the first colonists who fought for this right. Afterall, the colonists immigrated from Britain to the new world in search for freedom. ‘Righteous Girl,’ Laura Jean Anderson took time to talk to me about music, honesty, and the balance of the two. Throughout the interviews I’ve conducted, there was something about Anderson that I felt in the conversation that made our talk seamlessly natural. A very sweet tone welcomed me on the other end of the line- excited and eager to answer any questions. There wasn’t a façade and I didn’t end up with cookie cutter answers. Originally hailing from Olympia, Washington, Laura Jean Anderson still holds on to the element that exists in the northwest, based around grunge, garage rock, the after effect of what Nirvana left behind, intertwined with honesty, and American folk.…

The aesthetic desires which Jennings distinguish operating in the visual art, both of Cezanne and of the Chinese painter allow her to reconstruct a sense of their original artistic meanings and in doing so to expand her own aesthetic perspective, always drawing attention to the “human touch,” The final poem “Night Concert at Taormina,” in the series of six poems relate to human touch” to various forms of aesthetic expression, accurately defines the setting and the inspiring visual and auditory effects achieved as the concert begins: “The spectacle is changing into sound,/The columns, plucked by song, turn into light,/ Two key-boards rise in triumph from the ground/And fill the spaces of a warm good- night”(401) In the concluding lines of the next stanza, the speaker draws the reader’s attention to the fleeting beneficent effects the music has on the rapt audience: “Listen, the movements make a kindly claim/And lift the troubled glances from each face,” She guides the audience in their response to the music, directing them to participate in the recreated vision of “the ruined Greeks, the flaunting Romans,” and finally claiming that the “music will open more than heart or mind”: it will “Release our violence and make us kind.” This lofty claim for the evocative power of the performance is less ingenious if the overt, pervasive presence of the speaker…
