Hypoxi A Case Study

The highest priority for Jackson is impaired gas exchange related to ineffective breathing patern. It is imperative to ensure that Jackson has a patent airway and adequate oxygenation during the seizure because hypoxia can have severe consequences on the patient’s condition. Jackson must be placed in a side lying position to facilitate airway positioning and reduce the risk of aspiration. He must also be suctioned appropriately when there are secretions. If safety precautions are not taken during the seizure activity, Jackson can face serious complications. Since Jackson has an altered level of consciousness, he is at risk for aspiration and ineffective airway clearance because he is not able to manage his secretions (Piillitteri, 2014). Also,

Jananis’ sister found her hanging from the deck with a dog chain around her neck, approximately fifteen minutes after having last seen her. Her mother attempted CPR whilst she remained hanging, and it was a further 15 minutes before she was extricated by the fire brigade. Return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) was estimated at thirty to forty minutes from assumed time of hanging. She was intubated at the scene and no inotropes were required to maintain an adequate systemic blood pressure. At the local hospital magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was completed to rule out brain haemorrhage.…

Mr Bates would not only need pharmalogical support at this time but would need emotional support as well. Shortness of breath increases anxiety a great deal and this can cause further problems with breathing. Therapeutic touch would play a big role in decreasing anxiety. Simple use of therapeutic touch would be beneficial in this case as it does not require verbal communication and reassurance which Mr Bates would struggle with as he is short of breath (Doherty et al, 2006). Relaxation techniques like pursed lip breathing and reassurance would help steady breathing (Upton, 2013).…

A hyperbaric chamber is a glass chamber built to serve the purpose of pressurisng oxygen to be breathed in by athletes, the air pressure in the chamber is increased upto 3 times higher than normal, this means that your lungs can intake more oxygen than normal. In taking part in hyperbaric therapy the blood in your body is allowed to carry more oxygen and nutrients through the red blood cells to sufficiently provide for the body, hyperbaric therapy is dissolved into the body's fluid therefore allowing for an increase of oxygen. This helps with fighting bacteria, stimulating the cells in return to promote growth of the cells and repairing of dead cells, can also be used as a treatment for decompression sickness, serious infection and repairing…

If you’ve been following my blog you know that at the Eustache Institute we specialize in neurofeedback therapy. However, an additional treatment we proudly provide is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), which involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, allowing our lungs to gather more oxygen than would be possible breathing pure oxygen at normal air pressure. Our blood will then carry the oxygen throughout our body and our organs, helping to fight bacteria while stimulating the release of substances called growth factors and stem cells, which promote healing. For instance, just like neurofeeback therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is noninvasive, highly effective and treats a variety of illnesses and conditions such as, but not limited to, alzheimer’s, brain trauma, addiction (detox) insomnia and anxiety, and is extremely beneficial when it comes to skin care (rejuvenation, anti aging, reduces acne).…

The aim of the project was to minimize the inappropriate use of physical restraint in the acute respiratory unit, which caters to about thirty-two to thirty-eight patients with acute respiratory issues, in the promotion of the patient safety and improving patient outcomes. In the beginning of the project, it was noted that the acute respiratory unit was one of the lowest performing units when it comes to the proper utilization of physical restraint. As was stated by HCPro.com (2015), using a physical restraint does not reduce harm, but contributes to the delirium of the patient and sometimes other serious condition such as death. The patients’ population ranges from young adult to elderly.…
