Hydrops Fetalis Research Paper

Life itself is remarkable through were the process of a male and female create human life. The process of gestation is the most amazing thing ever, but can also be fetal for fetus. During my research, Hydrops Fetalis caught my eye. This is a serious condition which occurs in a fetus and a newborn. There are two different types of Hydrops Fetalis, which I will be telling you more about in the next paragraph. Hydrops Fetalis is a rare condition that happens to 1 out of 1,000 pregnancies. It is a serious condition that is abnormal amounts of fluid buildup in one or more body areas. The diagnosis for this condition can be through an ultrasound during the second trimester. During the ultrasound specialist or doctors can see where there are high amounts of amniotic fluid or abnormally large placenta can be seen. The two types of Hydrops Fetalis are Immune and Nonimmune. Immune Hydrops Fetalis is a complication of a severe form of Rh incompatibility. Which means a mother who has Rh negative blood type makes antibodies to her baby’s Rh positive blood cells, where the antibodies cross the placenta. The condition is rare. If a baby does survive, he or she our at risk for a brain damage call Kernioterus, which leads to mental disability and a tendency towards seizures and other control problems. The mother and father can go through depression, blaming there self for their child’s birth condition. As mother who went through something similar with my six month old daughter, it is very hard to understand what happen and why the condition occurs. As medical assistant if this diagnoses was to occur to a patient, I would offer support and maybe even give out more information to the patient about the diagnosis of course if the physician
