I had just turned thirteen in August and started getting my camo on. My dad and I decided to go hunting behind our house. I got all of my camo on and grabbed my gun. I loaded my black powder muzzleloader and headed outside to wait for my dad. He came outside and we headed out. We just walked because the woods . I walked behind my dad on the way. The crops had just come out so it didn't take long to walk there. It turned into a pretty strong northeast wind that day so we sat on the south side of the woods. The sun was going down and I began thinking we would go home with nothing. Then we saw it. There, a huge rack in the bean field just to the west of us. I got my gun on the branches and waited for him to walk across the fence line so I could get a shot. But he walked right towards us. We tanned the hide, fleshed the rack, and had a lot of touch up work at the end to make it look nice. At the end of winter I finally put my deer up on the wall in my room.
Now every night when I look at the deer I really think this might be one thing I want to continue my whole life. Something I can do whenever I get the time, something that I enjoy, and something I share a great passion with my
