Humorous Wedding Speech: A Message To A Good Husband

Improved Essays
Father God, thank You for placing this beautiful woman You have blessed me with. Thank you for how far You have brought us. You have proven to be faithful. You have proven to be present. You have proven to be good, oh, so good. My heart overflows with praise and thanksgiving to You.

Reflecting on our marriage, I am convicted that I haven't always been the husband You have called me to be to my wife. I confess the times I have been disrespectful and unloving in words, attitudes, and deeds. I see them as You do: sin. Lord, remove any bitterness, selfishness, and impatience from my heart. In those places plant ready forgiveness, patience, and the willingness to bear all things (Ephesians 4:2).

Make me kind, Lord. Make me gentle. Teach me Your ways. Transform my heart into a gentle, grace-extending one. Make me faithful, not only in body, but also in the way I speak and behave toward my wife. Make me the kind of husband who will not do or say anything to degrade or devalue my wife. Renew my mind so I can judge my words and actions based on Your truth and not just by how I feel. Work in me to become the man worthy of my wife's trust. Help her know that I aim to bring her good and not evil all the days of my life (Galatians 6:10).

Remind me of this often throughout the day. Help me seek ways to bless her with my words and actions. When words are inappropriate, guard my tongue, Lord (Psalm 141:3). Help me understand that sometimes my words are wrong no matter how right I am. Help me discern and choose when to speak and when to remain

First though is to not let anyone change who I am. God created everyone differently so there should be no reason for me to want to change for the benefit of someone else. Similar to the painting with the hole, everyone also has flaws they cannot change so expecting them to will do no one any good. Treating everyone fairly and with love is top priority. Secondly, I need to not be afraid to stand up for my beliefs and understandings.…

What she told me was she is climbing the same mountain and falling that same mountain, so I told her nnot to be discouraged and to keep climbing that mountain and she will eventually make it to the top. Her favorite scripture is 1 John 2:28 which says, And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his…

Zetta is always just a phone call away, especially when I have a new bible verse for her. As a child, Zetta would give me a book in the bible, or sometimes a section to read and have me decipher it into my own words and how I could relate it to my life. She stopped sitting for us when I was 7 years old and till this day I still call her every now and then with my favorite bible verse or one that I think she would love to hear as a pick-me-up. I recently found a job for Zetta working with my boyfriends’ uncle as he has a three year old and 10 month old. Thankfully I get to see her at all the family functions, whether it is my family or my boyfriends, because Zetta makes such a big impact on all the lives she touches and hoW strong her friendship…

The third section discusses the importance of other family relationships, particularly the importance of taking responsibility and sharing work at home and the honoring of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. This section draws from both chapter 17 “Supporting Families across Generations” and 21 “The meanings and Blessings of Family Work” in Successful Marriages and Families. It quotes from Successful Marriages and Families about the importance of family work and how even the most menial chores can provide important experiences for connecting as a family. It discusses how caring for elderly grandparents or great-grandparents shows that not only does a young person care about their grandparents or great grandparent, but they care about…

Growth within Marriage and Family Building a marriage and family that offers unconditional love, commitment to unity, along with respecting the differences of each family member is at the heart of an effective and healthy family. I have also come to realize how important grace and forgiveness can be within marriage and family and how these traits positively impact each family member to become empowered to move towards godly growth. While I reflect back to the love in my marriage, I thought I had an understanding of what “covenant love” was, but I neglected to realize its godly significance. Balswick and Balswick (2014) refer to the most important point of covenant love as an “unconditional commitment” which was derived from, and “demonstrated…

When two people marry, they come together as one. They are entering and agreeing to a relationship to love each other, be compassionate, and honest. They have agreed to endure the hardships to come, but still remain a faithful and understanding lover to one another. Eugene O’neill uses symbolism in the dramatic play Before Breakfast to enlighten how hardships can destroy marriages if the relationship lacks effective communication, intimacy, and trust. O’neill places “several potted plants (that) are dying of neglect” (O’neill) in the window seal of Mr. and Mrs. Rowland’s home.…
