While at the front desk the clerk says, “Ah happy anniversary Mr. Eckhart…Looks like we have a lot of romantic activities planned for you.” Awkwardly Pete then explains that the trip was originally meant for him and his ex-wife but he brought his best friend instead. Claire, the clerk, then suggests to cancel the couples massage but Andre insists that they keep it. Ruxin sarcastically says, “Yeah lets keep the massage, just remember when you’re entering Andre not to say Kevin’s name.” This joke was extremely ironic because although the best friends aren’t gay, they are at a spa retreat meant for a couple. While watching the tape they see a longhaired, hippie-ish Barney, playing the keyboard and singing a weepy, desperate love song to a girl named Shannon who had left him for a yuppie alpha male. While sobbing on tape Barney says, “Shannon! I love you. I love you so much..(short pause)..What about us changing the world together?” I found this scene to be incredibly comical because many have gone through a tough breakup and have done completely senseless things to get he or she back.
