The Human Resources Sergeant exemplifies what it is to be a Profession of Arms and a professional. As it notes in the very first page of the Army white paper The Profession of Arms “I am an expert and a professional” (TRADOC, 2010) We can note and many would agree that the Soldiers Creed sums up and gives an overall understanding to what exactly is The Profession of Arms and what it is to be a professional in the U.S. Army. The Army as a whole is always moving and changing and we as Soldiers and in particular Human Resource Sergeants must change with it, all while remaining effective and exceeding expectations as a professional within our profession. There are 150 jobs or career paths in the U.S. Army each with a specific mission as well as missions that rely on many jobs working together to achieve success. This always reminds me of the second line of the Soldiers Creed “I am a warrior and a member of a team”. We as human resource sergeants must work within our specific companies, battalions, brigades as individuals specifically professionals as wells as with fellow soldiers and higher ups within the organizations. Whether it is just paying one individual Soldier or preparing for a mobilization. No one Soldier can do all …show more content…
They are the definition and persona of what a profession is. It is the Human Resources Sergeant that exhibits the key attributes as noted in the Profession of Arms article as “Expertise, Trust, Values, Service” in addition they also exhibit several of the key attributes of what it is to be a professional “Skill, Leadership, Character, Duty” (TRADOC, 2010). It is these key attributes that make the position of the Human Resource Sergeant a profession.
