Human Christina Perri Analysis

Improved Essays
Music is a big part of my life, in and out of school I listen to and sing music. If music disappeared, it would be hard to be true to who I really am. Music is who I am. It helps me to understand my feelings and cope with them as well. So it made it hard for me to choose just one song for myself to call my “Theme Song.” Human by Christina Perri was my choice because of the way I can tie it into myself in almost every line or phrase of the song.

One of the first lines of the songs states “If that's what you want, be your number one,” and this ties into my life because when I am with my friends or if I like someone I think of their feelings first, I do whatever I can do to make them happy no matter how it makes me feel. It is something that makes up the kind of person I am. Sometimes people know that about me and it makes them easy for them to take advantage of me to do a task for them and they know I will always try and put them up for who they are if I'm in the right mood, happy and not tired.

The quote that I believe I can tie into myself the most is “I can fake a smile, I can force a laugh.” It translates to me as, I can pretend to be happy for the people

Through the school related issues, all of the drama, and rumors it makes it hard to stay positive on a daily basis for anyone. Every so often life gets to hard for people to take and they hit a low part of their life/their crash and it can be hard to overcome and it can lead to a breakdown mentally and emotionally. Sooner or later I have to let out my emotion, whether that means crying or figuring out what I need to do to fix my problem. Another line of lyrics in the song that ties into “I crash and I break down” would be “I can take so much till I’ve had enough.” It sends about the same message being that I have to let out how I feel, I can not sit around and bottle up my emotions until I get so overwhelmed I feel

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

Night Fever To start this off I want to say I choose and did this song before I started thinking about the song in psychology terms. I choose this song because I really like it and every other song that has played has been either really depressing or a song that no one has ever heard of before. This song makes me want to get up and dance even though I am awful at dancing. I think it would be really cool to experience a club like the one in the movie Saturday Night Fever because now a days clubs play loud techno music and not cool disco music.…

Music has played a gigantic role in defining who I am. When I was little I was always involved in music. Even if it was not me making the music, I was always bopping my head along or tapping my foot to the beat of the music. My parents were surprised to find out that I was the child that was fascinated by the marching band walking in the parade. I knew by a young age that I wanted to be in that band.…

The trombones open up with vigor and power, the piano and bass discreetly accompanies them while the beat of the drums, conga and Guiro in the background makes everything flow to give rhythm and soul to this piece of Latin music I know as Salsa. As the intro makes its conclusion the trombones and drums act simultaneously as a heartbeat skipping a beat, giving the effect of a slight pause right before Hector Laveo “El Cantante” sings his first words. Hector with his high, pure and distinguished voice says “Todo Tiene Su final” which translates to “Everything has its End”. I pause the song, “everything has its end” stays in my mind as the beat of percussion echoes in my head. In what context does he say this?…

In the song ‘would it matter’ is a sad song, sung by the band Skillet which tells a story of someone suffering from anxiety and depression who feels hopeless and has thoughts of how worthless they are while having suicidal thoughts and wants to know would anyone care about them if something happened to them. The main theme that is being portrayed in the song is depression and having suicidal thoughts, “I know I'm a mess and I wanna be someone, someone that I like better” they want to be different than who they are right now, someone without all of their imperfections and deadly thoughts holding them back from doing anything and never going to get better because of them. The person is wanting to know if anyone would care if they were gone “If I wasn't here tomorrow Would anybody care” it seems if they are looking for reassurance that they people would care if they left.…

This song belongs on my life soundtrack because I’ve always been raised to be humble, kind, and show respect. This song reminds me of my younger childhood where my mother would take me to church, visit my grandparents and spend time with family. This song describes me because I’ve always been kind, humble, and respectful to everyone or at least I try to be most of the time. My favorite parts of the song are where he sings about going to church with your mother, and visiting your grandparents. I also love where it goes don’t steal, cheat, and don’t lie.…

The media perceives Taylor Swift as nothing more than a clingy, manipulative, and crazy young woman who jumps from relationship to relationship. Being the lyrical genius she is, Swift created the song "Blank Space" in 2014 to defend her position with this preconceived notion. She uses many rhetorical devices to explain her position in this argument against the media. With the beneficial use of rhetorical devices, Taylor Swift shows that boys will only stay if it is worth a fight, and that she is fully conscious of the media representation.…

When I was just a toddler, I would try to climb in the dishwasher and take everything out while mom was trying to do the dishes. In order to keep me from doing that, dad needed to play video games as long as they entranced me. One of the games he played was The Legend of Zelda. Growing up with this game and spending time with my dad while he played it fueled the love I developed for this game and it’s music. The first four songs on the soundtrack of my life, composed by Koji Kondo, are songs from that video game.…

The Crow & The Butterfly A musician’s inspiration for a song can come from anywhere, even their own subconscious, and that proves true in the case of my favorite song “The Crow & The Butterfly” by Shinedown. The singer of the band and the writer of the song, Brent Smith, has said his inspiration came from a dream he had about a mother dealing with the death of a child. The song to me represents loss in any sense that is relevant to the listener. The emotion you feel while listening to the lyrics can speak to anyone in different aspects of their life.…

Music Composer for To Kill a Mockingbird • “Ultralight Beam” by Kanye West is the first song on this soundtrack. The second verse by Kelly Price talks about how “You persecute the weak / Because it makes you feel so strong,” similar to when Atticus talks about how Mayella is putting this man on trial so she doesn’t have to deal with the fact she kissed a black man. They both possess the mood of being somber. The song makes you feel as if there are problems that have been corrected and you finally feel free. The book, however, highlights the racial divide between whites and blacks.…
