Allyson Wells Effects of Mass Media
There have been many developments made on mass media in the last century. Many of these developments have been helpful for both teachers and students to connect on an academic level. One such development is using technology in the classroom. In this age of technological advances many now use items such as ipads in the classroom. This can have both a positive and a negative effect on the students. It can either grab the attention of a student or distract from the work being been. Media has also gone from newspapers and television to the internet, where information can be found at a few strokes of the keyboard. The internet has vast amounts of easily assessable data, as well as faster communication. It also has other ways of being able to express your feelings and opinions. People can post or use videos or digital pictures, in place of words and actions. There is also satellite television which allows a person …show more content…
The technological convergence is the merging of old media, such as newspapers and radio, with the new media, such as laptops and computers through the internet. With this merging someone could watch their favorite television show whenever they wanted to, either over the internet or by recording it with a DVR. There are also faster ways to communicate using this technology. In place of writing a letter or picking up a telephone, people are able to send email and video chat. People also seem to get more out of digital media, meaning they can get more hours of information in less time. With this technological merging of content, there seems to be more time spent engaging in and discussing media with others. Media convergence in the business world means consolidating many media into one place. This is done to help increase profits and manage resources
