Hour: 1 The Hubble Space Telescope started to be built in 1977 and was launched in April 24, 1990 in space by ESA (European Space Agency) and NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). It was used to gather light from cosmic objects, so scientists can better understand the universe around us. It was also a basic reflector with a 94.5 inch mirror that give astronomers a clear view of the universe in visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light.

The Hubble Space Telescope works by flying around, or obits, high above earth and its atmosphere at 5 miles per second, weighs as much as two adults elephants and long as a large school buses. Every 97 minutes, Hubble completes a spin around Earth. It takes

Then the light is focused on a small area called the focal point. The mirrors are precisely shaped, made of ultra-low expansion glass and kept at a nearly constant room temperature.

The Hubble Space Telescope is a reflecting telescope because it is a mirror and not a lens. Another reason is because the secondary mirror reflects into the primary, wtch makes it a reflector. In the hubble space telescope is manipulated by having three different filters red, green, and blue, but first it takes a picture in black and white. The advantages of the Hubble Space Telescope is that it has accuracy, usability, and field of vision. The hubble is different from other telescope is that its ability is to observe near-infrared and ultraviolet light.

The Hubble Space Telescope discovered/captured images that revealed bright and dark regions on the surface of the dwarf planet Ceres, the largest object in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It also discovered how old are universe's (13.8 billion years old). If the hubble space telescope then it wouldn't have gotten the big areas such has like stars, galaxies, and our

Long ago, people believed that the Earth was the center of the universe, and that all the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies orbited around it. However, as pivotal discoveries were made and new theories emerged, society gained a much more insightful understanding of the cosmos above. In the second century, an astronomer by the name of Claudius Ptolemy proposed his geocentric model of the solar system, which depicted Earth in the center of the universe and the planets and the Sun orbiting in concentric circles around it. There were problems with this model, however, and years later an astronomer named Nicolaus Copernicus proposed another model which showed the Sun at the center.…

During the first Global Exchange a lot of changes occurred. These things could have been anything from a minor to a simple change, or a large to an extreme change. The changes that were most significant are the innovations of the Astrolabe and the transformation of the Columbian Exchange. “The Astrolabe is a very ancient astronomical device for solving problems that deal with time and the location of the sun and stars in the sky. ”1 This was a very important and very much needed innovation.…

TPO 30 integrated Task: The reading passage discusses the validity of the defensive methodology used by Greek during the Roman’s navy attack to the port city of syracuse 2200 years ago. It is illustrated in the reading that the Greeks could not have been using an inventive weapon called ''Burning mirror'' which was a clear surface of cooper to direct the sun's rays towards Roman's ships. In order to question the tale, three different evidence have been provided by the author which the lecturer finds all reasons false and provide solid proofs for each of them.…

Both the reading and the lecture attempt to discuss what the story of the weapon called "burning mirror" was in the Greeks navy who defended themselves with the Roman navy. While the lecture states three reasons for taking advantages of this weapon, not only does the lecturer disagrees with them, but she also presents some evidence to refute them all. First, the author maintains that the technology for manufacturing a class of large copper sheet for burning mirror could not exist in that time. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that the mirror was not a single sheet and it contained a lot of pieces which assemble to create an array of mirrors to be in parabolic shape and created the precise large-scale mirror.…

On October 1, 1958 the United States created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The creation of this government space agency was primarily due to the circumstances that United States national defense faced during the Cold War (Garber and Launius). In this time of reference, space exploration was prioritized greatly in the United States as it later became known as the “space race” between the U.S and the Soviet Union. Later on, NASA would be known to put the first man on the moon. This was not only an achievement for the United States but for the world.…

Since its preliminary inception, HST was designed to be a different type of mission for NASA -- a long term space-based observatory. From its position 380 miles above Earth's surface, the Hubble Space Telescope has contributed enormously to astronomy. It has expanded our understanding of star birth, star death, and galaxy evolution, and has helped move black holes from scientific theory to fact. Credited with thousands of images and the subject of thousands of research papers, the space telescope is helping astronomers answer a wide range of intriguing questions about the origin and evolution of the…

Many scientists, starting with Galileo, had noticed there was something strange because of a small fleck they saw in the sky. These scientists had try to discover something new, but each time, their ideas were dismissed. This went on for several years, before William Herschel had the motivation to figure it out for himself. At first, he thought it was a comet, but through a mirror he had built, was able to verify that this object wasn’t making the same motion as a comet would. This is where his motivation began.…

Furthermore, Sputnik’s goal was also to test the temperature in space. “Both countries were also engaged in developing satellites as a part of a goal set by the International Council of Scientific Unions, which had called for the launch of satellite technology during late 1957 or 1958.” This was a goal set by the I.C.S.U. which induced countries to expedite their technological advancements for space explorations, for this shows an exchange in collaborations between countries. In retaliation to the launch of Sputnik I, the United States built and launched the Explorer 1 in 1958. “The primary science instrument on Explorer 1 was a cosmic ray detector designed to measure the radiation environment in Earth orbit.”…
