Throughout history there have been hundreds of different religions, many of which are very similar and many that are vastly different, however, having an ultimate life goal is the one thing that remains the same with them all. That ultimate goal varies from religion to religion though most of them involve correctly following a set path and being worthy enough to meet their religions “God” or “savior”. In todays world people are allowed to follow any religion that they wish to practice, as long as people are not being sacrificed for their souls. Religion is one of the most controversial topics in the world, at the top of this mountain of controversy is a religion called Scientology. The man behind this religion goes by Ron Hubbard, Hubbard established Scientology as a religion in 1952 and although it is still a currently practiced religion, many people viewed Scientology as something that would not be around for very long and in turn thought of it as a joke. For a religion that had such a humble beginning, it is obvious that this is a well thought out and complex religion that has changed lives all around the world in a remarkably short amount of time regardless of how some may feel about it.
After Hubbard learned what he could of the mind and body he quickly wanted to dig in deeper to further his knowledge on the matter. While most of Hubbard’s studies were about understanding the workings of the human mind, Hubbard felt that there was more to it than that, stating in his writing of Dianetics that he had plans to “further research into the life force” leading Hubbard toward the creation of Scientology (Church).
