Hrm/531 Week 2 Occupation

I have found that I could not possibly be satisfied with being in only one occupation throughout my life. This being said, my “plan b” occupation is not dependent on whether or not my first career works out, but when I gain enough money to move forward with my second occupation. My “plan b” is to open up my own shop that will include a coffee shop, book store, and bakery in one. I will call it Drury Lane, based off of the Muffin Man nursery rhyme (I would like to keep the name a out of the general public so no one steals it. Thank you.) Drury Lane will be a college friendly place with tables equipped with power cords, free wifi, access to used textbooks, and a lounge area for comfortable studying. I intended on having it placed near a college in the mountains, and from the expanding window an onlooker could see the student artwork draped along the walls of either brick or vintage styled wallpaper. The cake decorators will be easily visible for the customers, the bookstore will either be up a small spiraling staircase with each step painted as a famous book, or an outward extension of the Bakery that is connected with the lounge area, and the said lounge area …show more content…
All business owners must dedicate numerous hours to their work, hire employees, ensure that standards\goals are met, deal with customers (particularly angry ones), implement marketing tactics, deal with Federal and state business laws, work with accountants\ stockholders\ investors, and whatever else is needed to keep the business successful. A larger business is different in the fact that it can afford managers to work over employees and hold some of the responsibilities of the business owner. A smaller business owner will be more likely to not only handle everything alone, but they will also work directly with their employees and complete even the lowest entry activities if it is
