On my first day of clinical I was introduced to the technologists by our instructor, Velma Pena, then I was shown the equipment in the various rooms. However, after that I was pretty much thrown into the deep end of the pool. The first day was spent learning what to do as I either observed, assisted, or performed the task at hand. For me the hands on experience was a wonderful way to learn and gave me the opportunity to apply the skills that I had learned in lab.
2. Describe how your room assignments are conducted.

All of these skills have benefited both my clinical and didactic

A Respiratory Therapists role in long-term care facility and Homecare My time working at CCOH and RHCS was exciting and interesting. Although they are both respiratory therapist jobs, they each demonstrated something different. While CCOH showed how it is to work in a long-term facility and have consistent patient interaction. It’s 0500 in the morning, and Taylor is getting ready for her first clinical as a paramedic student. Taylor is 5’2, looks as though she is 12, and has a heart larger than life. When people would ask why she chose the career field she is in, she would always respond with a smile, “I’m an adrenaline junkie, and this gives me a fix like no other.” People often wonder what inspires people like her to do what they do for people they don't know, and it all comes back down to something as simple and being the light in the dark, the calm in the storm, and hope amongst the chaos. Working in a field that is so demanding of your energy, your time, and your emotions, can really drain someone.…

This was the first week of this clinical experience where I felt that I was challenged with the patient I was assigned. I had to come up with ways to communicate with a client that was unable to voice his concerns and needs. During my second day with this client, I made a “yes” or “no” paper that he could point to in order to answer my questions. It was successful at first but as the day progressed he wasn’t responding to it as well. He was able to nod and shake his head, which allowed me to complete my head to toe and pick out the things that he was experiencing.…
