Decent Essays
I have currently finished reading the book, Divergent by Veronica Roth. This book takes place in a futuristic world where everyone is divided into separate communities called factions. There are 5 different factions. You choose what faction you belong too based on your personality traits, selfless, fearless, etc. When you turn 16 you take a test that tells you what faction you belong in. In Thomas C. Foster’s book How to Read Literature Like a Professor, he continues his analysis on sexuality in chapter seventeen. However, unlike the previous chapter, which discussed the presence of sex embodying itself in various forms, chapter seventeen indicates that definitive mentionings to sex in reality signify everything but the act itself. This deliberate attempt is indicative of Grandpa’s sexual relationship with Grandma; as sex in their…

Critical Reading Response Kindred 4. The way I see it, being complicit is the same as knowing about it and doing nothing to stop it. White women were just as involved as Black slaves that knew of the sexual exploitation, set aside the fact that they were slaves and could not do much in abolishing this issue but they were still complicit. I agree because Dana was discreet with helping Rufus get Alice so in the end she was involved. Since the beginning Dana knew of what Rufus has become with trying to rape Alice.…
