Halloween is just around the corner, many believe that Halloween is not the same without carving pumpkins. By ones self or participating with others, pumpkin carving is an activity associated with Halloween. With all the tools readily available, a pumpkin can be made into a beautiful masterpiece. Carving a pumpkin can be a difficult task; however, with the proper tools it can be made an enjoyable endeavor. To begin this process one must prepare for carving. Picking a pumpkin is essential. Picking a pumpkin of ones liking is very important as well, pick the pumpkin according to what will be carved into it. After choosing the pumpkin, make sure to gather and access all tools necessary for the job. A permanent marker, a sharp, thin knife, and a spoon to scrape the inside of the pumpkin are necessary. When done gathering the tools, then clear a table so that plenty of room is available to carve the pumpkin. Second, one must prepare their pumpkin. To prepare a pumpkin one …show more content…
Beginning this process the pumpkin should have a clean outer surface, and a clean, hollow inside. Pick a simple and bold pattern, for a Halloween night, the usual design is spooky, scary, or goofy. Then carve the pumpkin to liking, and handle the sharp tools with care. After completing this carving, one should have a masterpiece that they themselves have successfully completed. One will then place a candle at the base of the inside of the hollowed out pumpkin. After completing their spooky, scary, or goofy pumpkin, then place the pumpkin on the front porch. In conclusion, a pumpkin can be transformed from a plain pumpkin, to a unique jack-o-lantern with some simple tools. Though at times carving a pumpkin can be stressful and time consuming, it can be made enjoyable. As long as one follows the steps provided, this process can be made simple.
