“An America where every person, no matter their race, their disability, or their sexual orientation, realizes the full promise of equality, that is our birthright as Americans.” A flawless quote given by democrat, Bernie Sanders. In the last fifty years, America has only gotten a few steps closer to achieving the astounding country all past documents put us up to be. It is quite true that America has made some improvements, so have all other countries. I believe all citizens have their opinions about their countries and their goals to improve their countries.
Our country has problems agreeing on quite a few aspects of life, such as: equal rights, equal pay, equality as a whole, fairness towards all, and so on. We lack common sense and how to treat people. Many feel the need to tear others apart for the poorest of reasons. It’s often blamed on religious views, but that is no reason to treat others with no respect. Everyone has different lifestyles, and that has not been realized by America. I understand different religious views, and that not everyone will get along or agree, but the lack of respect and attitude towards other humans is what I do not understand.

America has and probably will always be facing many things along its path. Throughout this semester I have learned and read about some of the ups and downs of America from 1492 to 1877. Everything that I have learned has shaped the world in its present time concerning some of the same problems faced back in the day. It’s so important that the younger generations know what happened so that we won’t repeat or be ignorant towards what happened during that time. As a people, we are constantly learning about different things, even about ourselves.…

The U.S. government system has worked for over two hundred years. It can easily be proven that the system has worked great, and it is, for sure, a huge reason America has shaped out to be what it is. Even though the government system has worked well for decades, people are blinded by the horrifying fact that the way the government's system runs just doesn't work anymore. The government has come to be destructive. It is making the ground under the feet of the people crumble and break, yet ¨the people¨ don't even realize it.…

What does it mean to be American? Through understanding America’s past and present domestic and foreign policies and actions, it would be too easy to analyze the ways in which Americans tend to be too aggressive, selfish, hypocritical, or uncaring. However, Americans also seem to tend to be hopeful and idealistic demonstrated in the rights listed in The Declaration of Independence, and I am an American. While I do not want to encourage any nationalistic or egocentric dispositions, I also want to hold the American people, myself included, to the high ideals set by our founding government. Americans have the responsibility to uphold the human rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness through historical understanding and empathy as described in Michelle Alexander’s…

Bias reporting in the main stream media has grown into a National phenomenon, especially after the most recent election cycle. There is no middle ground and there are never two sides to any story. The term “fake news” is voiced over and over again by politicians and I can’t help but to agree. Before you dismiss my essay in the assumptions that I am out on a mission to “Make America Great Again”, I believe all parties are equally guilty. Reporting now will have you believe you are either left or right, liberal or conservative.…

Having American pride is a title many citizens give themselves in replacement of the term “American.” Many people also reference the Pledge Of Allegiance when asking the complex question of what it means to be an American. There are people out there who would call themselves American. The real question is what makes someone American and how would you know. To me there are a couple ways that I would consider myself American and the first and simple one is that you were born on American soil (in the United States). Another reason is that if you look like you are from America and the last one is that if you have the freedom that Americans have.
