How To Be An American

Decent Essays
To be American is to follow through with the laws of the United States. Since America was once often referred to as the “land of the free” being accepting of the mass diversity in the United States makes a person American. Supporting the belief that everyone is equal despite their race, religion, or gender makes one American. Also contributing back to the country. Contributing could be paying taxes, making donations, help clean your community or simply being respectful of others, even if you do not agree with them. To be American can also mean you were born in the U.S., but also it is very important to know your rights, or better yet, know you have certain rights many other nations do not have.
