Medical Assisting
The healthcare field is not for the faint of heart. It is messy, confusing, nerve-wracking, intimidating, and sad. It is exhausting, mentally and emotionally, as it is a job that never really ends. But it is also a very rewarding job for those with hearts big enough to care for others. Setting aside their own personal cares and concerns, healthcare professionals work to establish and maintain excellent patient care. They do so in numerous ways, despite the countless career differences, all working together to uphold the high quality of care that is valuable to our society. Medical assistants are an integral part of this healthcare system, and by understanding what their career entails, a greater respect will be given to those who sacrifice for the needs of humanity. …show more content…
Although not all employers hire only those with a college education and degree, most prefer individuals who they do not have to train on-site (Medical Assistants, 2015). A medical assisting program is usually a maximum of two years, and it includes an internship and practicum. Following the completion of this, applicants must complete and pass one of the state certified exams before becoming a full-fledged medical assistant (Medical Assistants, 2015). Although the educational path for this career is not lengthy, it is rigorous and thorough. Medical assistants are taught an immense amount of information, including anatomical concepts, medical terminology, and laboratory procedures. All of what they learn directly prepares them for interacting with patients and performing the tasks necessary to keep everything running
