This was even happened when the miners went on strike because they wanted less working hours and higher wages. This strike threatened to shut down the major fuel supply in many cities. President Roosevelt set up a fact-finding commission that suspended the strike. The strike then ended when the workers got a 10% wage raise and the hours were reduced from 10 to 9 hours per day.
