Progressive Presidents The progressive presidents Taft, Wilson, and Roosevelt were all successful Presidents who changed the U.S. for the improvement of the future of the U.S. Though the most successful president in reforming the U.S. was President Theodore Roosevelt because of the many reforms he had signed to improve the United States for the better. Roosevelt was the first president protect small businesses and trust busting monopolies, he also protected consumers, that made meat companies to buy pure meat, made a compromise for the rights of labor, and was quite the conservative president with protecting environment. All of these reforms highly benefited the U.S. more so than president Taft, and Wilson have done.

President Roosevelt brought forth the most reforms to our country because he used the Sherman Antitrust Act which protected smaller businesses to keep them from becoming monopolised by larger companies. For example, Ida Tarbell’s father's business was being monopolised by the standard oil company this protected the Tarbell’s company by not allowing the monopolization of Standard Oil. The reason that Roosevelt was a very beneficial progressive president is because he was the first president to intervene and step in to change things during the coal miner strike. This was even happened when the miners went on strike because they wanted less working hours and higher wages. This strike threatened to shut down the major fuel supply in many cities. President Roosevelt set up a fact-finding commission that suspended the strike. The strike then ended when the workers got a 10% wage raise and the hours were reduced from 10 to 9 hours per day.
