Early in the novel, Katniss had difficulties deciphering Peeta’s motives. As a result, Katniss had mixed emotions towards Peeta. For example, when Peeta revealed to all citizens of Panem that he liked Katniss, Katniss thought that he said that to make her look weak. She thought wrong though, for Peeta made Katniss look desirable, according to Haymitch. When Haymitch told Katniss that, she rethought her emotions for Peeta. Katniss’s feelings for Peeta now is also unsteady, but she is progressing from her previous emotions about him. Her feelings now are more positive than before.
