Cameron Croghan, Shelby Robinett Mr. Cmaylo AP Biology 10-19-15 Energy Transfer Energy transfer occurs in all cellular activities. For three of the following five processes involving energy transfer, explain how each functions in the cell and give an example. Explain how ATP is involved in each example. Adenosine Triphosphate, or ATP, is the most useful form of energy in the human body. Humans use it for everything from lifting a pin to running, to breathing.…
Volleyball helped me to develop my leadership skills. During practices, I was a leader by helping people better their skills when I see them having a hard time. Volleyball has taught me how to receive and give constructive criticism. It is important to know how to do this because you do not want to put someone down when you are trying to help them, as well as being able to listen to others to help myself. During games, I was a leader because when the team was down I would try to cheer everyone up.…
Anaerobic and aerobic exercise were determined to effectively influence muscle oxygen uptake at the cellular level. Evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of the two types of exercise on oxygen uptake would inform the advantages and disadvantages they have on muscles. Significant amounts of oxygen are consumed by the human muscles when moderate intensity aerobic work is performed. Contradictorily, anaerobic exercise causes the body to break down stored glycogen in muscles for energy. Therefore, oxygen availability, biological factors, and exercise intensity are factors contributing to muscle oxygen uptake.…
All energy systems are constantly working together, although there is always a bigger contribution from one energy system to another depending on the intensity and duration of the activity. During a soccer match the ATP-PC energy system is the dominant energy source for high intensity activities of up to 10 seconds. This is dominant when an outfield player is jumping for a header or a goalkeeper is diving to save the ball. The anaerobic glycolysis system is the highest contribution when working 30-60 seconds and near maximum effort. The soccer player would reach their lactate threshold and have blood lactate levels increase.…
The term passionate refers to any powerful or compelling feeling as to love or hate. Many Americans become passionate with one another, food, and also hobbies. I for one became passionate with volleyball. In fact, it is one of the top dangerous sports. I managed to make it through numerous of years with a few sprained and jammed fingers which were surprising.…
For my microcycle project I was given the sport position of a baseball pitcher. Baseball pitching is an extremely explosive and sometimes an unnatural movement. The main parts of being a good pitcher is to have velocity, position, and movement. In order for there to be a successful pitch, Chris Blake of the New England Musculoskeletal Institute at the UConn Health Center says that there are 6 phases the body must go through. Phase 1 is the wind-up.…
He/she then jumps up into the air and returns to the floor. The athlete repeats this continuously for 15 times, for 5 sets. This will strengthen the power in the legs and will help the player reach/jump higher. IMPROVING REACTION TIME Equipment needed: netball ball…
1. What energy system(s) does the Wingate Test rely? Explain. The energy systems that the Wingate test relies on, is glycolysis and ATP-PCr.…
Over my high school career the extra-curricular activities I have been involved with have taught some valuable leadership skills. These skills include communication, motivation, positivity, trustworthiness, responsibility, commitment and flexibility. These leadership skill will be used to greatly impact my future. My high school volleyball career has taught me most of these skills. Communication is one of the very first things that I had learned when joining the sport.…
Volleyball has been an important aspect of my life ever since I began in seventh grade and my commitment to the sport has grown with each year. Heading into high school, I knew that I wanted to continue with volleyball. To better prepare myself, that summer I went to a week-long intensive volleyball camp, where my skills increased exponentially. Back at home, I went to every open gym and beach volleyball session the varsity team provided. I wanted to prove that I was capable of playing at a high school level.…
The dominant energy system that squash players use is the Lactic Acid System. The fitness component Agility is the ability of the body to remain balanced whilst changing direction. It is vital for squash players to be agile. Agility is used in squash when the player changes direction constantly to get close enough to the ball to be able to hit it. The opposition will always hit the ball where the other player is not,…
Thesis i. The game of volleyball has been around for years, filled with rules and positions, and can cause many physical effects on those who play. V. Preview i. Today, I will discuss the beginnings, the rules, the positions and the physical effects it can have. Transition:…
Needs Analysis: Soccer Soccer is a demanding sport. Players must be well conditioned, strong, and flexible. The legs are the obvious muscle that must be toned, but few people realize that the core, arms, neck, and back must have a strong muscular background as well. These muscles work together to contribute to the success of a soccer player. Injuries to the muscles happen often, but this risk of injury can be minimized with flexibility training.…
Importance of energy systems involved in performance: During a soccer game, each energy system is applied with various intensities from low to high that are used. It can be hard to establish which energy system is used most frequently during a game of soccer for a defender. This is because there are many different movements performed with different levels of intensity that change throughout a game of soccer. For example, a defender will usually sprint and then stop, walk, jog and then sprint again in order to get the ball from the opposing team.…
Today, it is recommended to include complex and more comprehensive exercises based on using new materials, such as: dumbbells, fitball, weights, kettlebells, and obstacles. The use of functional accessories such of these, in “addtiton to the motor and functional effects, volleyball players also gain mental motivation stimulated by the diversity and amenity of those accessories’ design” (Ciulea,…
