How Have Cell Phones Affected Our Society

As a child, I recall playing on a rotary phone and spinning the dial wheel repeatedly as I imagined I was calling my grandmother. Eventually, the technology in telephones changed and the invention of the push button phones came about; however, they were not near as fun to play on as the rotary dial. The next step in the evolution of the phone came in the form of a hands-free unit, and eventually, the cell phone. This new technology has been instrumental in the growth of the telecommunication industry. On the other hand, it has adversely affected our relationships both personally and professionally, jeopardized our privacy, and most importantly, affected the ability of our society to correspond correctly and stay on task. They often are on some social media site or application on their phone, instead of communicating and building relationships with the ones that surround them. Technology in the form of cell phones has become a fundamental part of our everyday lives; nonetheless, this has jeopardized many basic liberties, such as privacy. Cell phones have given us instant access to the internet; furthermore, instant access to just about everything we do or do not do in our society. Our culture is driven by the need to put everything on social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. Furthermore, this has declined our ability to correspond or to stay on task, and this is for two main reason. One, most social media sites restrict the amount of characters that you are allowed to use when posting on their application. The restricted characters has severely degraded most people's ability to communicate efficiently and has degraded their writing skills. Additionally, the average person struggles to stay on task because of the need for most to stay connected on these forums. Long-term project or task can seem nearly impossible to complete because everyone must remain
