How Does Sugar Gain More Water Than Water

The data that we collected was all over the place. Some of the tubes lost lots of water, and some gained almost 30% more water. This data means that water with less sugar gains more water and water with more sugar loses water. Each color had more or less sugar in each cup so the size of the tube depended on if the water had a lot of sugar in it or not. The Hypotonic situation in the lab is a tube with not a lot of sugar in the cup, green and orange are both hypotonic. An isotonic solution is kind of in the middle where there isn’t a lot of sugar so not much water will be able to get in or out, examples of this are blue and purple. The hypertonic solution is a solution that losses the most water because of all the sugar outside of the cell examples
