How Does Poverty Affect The United States

Society appears to accept poverty as if it is not a problem and does not affect the U.S. in any way. However, poverty has many problems that affect the U.S. economy in very negative ways. By addressing poverty we could help the middle class that is steadily fading, eradicate hunger, and most importantly give people a second chance to turn their life around and help the economy. The poverty in our economy affects the GDP and the employment rates drastically. People being uneducated is a big factor in unemployment and this has affected the U.S. severely from developing into a strong economy. The unemployment rate as of this month is currently at 5.0%, this is very high considering even 5.0% is thousands of people’s lives. This high of an unemployment rate will not let the U.S. grow and impacts the growth of the country a lot. Unemployment if you were too rate the leading causes would probably be number one, unemployment is the one of the many key reasons why poverty has continued till this day. For the impoverished people in the United States there only way to make a living is through the labor. The ETIC helped more than 6.5 million Americans—including 3.3 million children avoid poverty in 2012. The EITC is one of the larger weapons to help fight this poverty war. This has helped the lives of many throughout the years and has granted millions of dollars dedicated too people in poverty. But possibly this could be used even more effectively by loosening up on the standards. For example the amount of money a widowed or single mother or father would rise until there income combined with the EITC help rises above the poverty
