Society is perpetually affected by pornography because it is so readily available to us in this day and age. Pornographic-like material is available almost everywhere you look, whether it is a Calvin Klein billboard or a Carl’s Jr advertisement on YouTube, our access to pornography is changing the way people view it. While there are people who are still opposed to pornography, society has become much more accepting of it and is starting to become the norm. What is most interesting, is how the increase of accessible pornography has changed society and people on an individual level.
In today’s society with the internet able to spread information faster than anything before it, there have been numerous changes to society. Some of these changes include our language and how people talk to one another. One average, The Oxford Dictionary adds approximately 1,000 new entries each year, some of these words stem from the use of internet and social media. However, some words that are used everyday on the internet on websites such as Reddit and Imgur are not added to the dictionary, but are used often. These words …show more content…
However, these words are not typically used outside of the internet in a face-to-face conversation with another person. The terms themselves can be considered controversial if used in a conversation outside of the internet because of the crude and pornographic relationship. It is also considered controversial because of the belief that it has a negative influence on the future of language, and that it would lead to a degradation of standard. Some would even say that it is a sign of the declining standard of formal English and the increase in use of electronic communication. It has also been suggested that the differences between Standard English and electronic communication can have a negative impact on English
