How Does Illegal Immigration Affect The Economy

Illegal immigration in the United Sates has been a hot topic for quite some time, especially in the past couple of months with political debates arising more and more with all of the new presidential candidates. Illegal immigration can be a sore subject to some, a heated argument for others and for some Americans; they just plain do not care. For a long time, I did not like the concept of people crossing over the border illegally and taking jobs for a smaller wage from the legal born citizens and also using government benefits on the legally born Americans tax dime. This particular topic stuck my attention due to the fact I did not know the facts, and I wanted to learn more. By complimenting the skilled native born workers the undocumented workers can do the little jobs like clean up on a construction site after a build, or washing dishes or cooking food at a restaurant. With undocumented workers picking up the small easy work makes company’s owners pay less for the over job. Skilled workers that are native born get paid more to do their jobs; for instance if a skilled worker with a college degree is paid to build a house and that house is now complete, the skilled worker can now stop building and go to another jobsite. If the skilled legally born native had to stick around the jobsite after a build was complete to pick up the scraps, the company would have to pay him the extra hours at a higher rate of pay until the jobsite was complete, costing
